Today was the kind of day where you feel you need to be outside. So I did just that and worked from this desk for a couple hours. I had to do that because I couldn’t get the Wi-Fi to connect from my favorite swing, which I have to use a lot before the bees arrive. You’re probably wondering why I didn’t just give up at that point and retire to a nap pod. Well, it’s mainly because the view is slightly worse there than it is from my desk. Have I mentioned how much I love this place?
I’ve had this Lil Uzi Vert song stuck in my head for a couple weeks, and that’s a terrible thing. There’s a run-of-the-mill annoyance we all feel when we have a song stuck in our head that we can’t get rid of. I have an additional annoyance that makes this song especially troubling to have stuck. When I have a song stuck in my head, I usually latch onto one word or phrase from the song and repeat it endlessly. When Niggas in Paris was huge, I’d find myself saying over and over, out loud, “Fish filet…” None of the words that preceded it or
When Donald Trump campaigned on being unpredictable, the first thing that came to mind was It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Donald Trump was asking us to vote for a wild card. Why would you vote for a wild card? Well, it turns out that more states in the union wanted a wild card, and now we have one. We have a President who is entirely unpredictable, but his unpredictability comes not from an unusually creative approach to solving problems. Instead, it comes from his having created an environment where you can never know what to believe. President Trump has attempted to deliver on everything he
Last week, Drake released More Life, and as with all Drake releases, it was an event. I looked at the Trending Topics on Twitter shortly after Drake began premiering it on his Beats One show, and something like half the topics were related to the album. I had a flight that afternoon, so I began downloading the album the minute it became available. It was going to be the soundtrack of my flight to Europe. I didn’t expect to find myself listening to it throughout the week, but I found time to sneak the album — excuse me, playlist — in whenever I could. Now that I’ve had a week to list to the album, I’ve got a few thoughts.
Paris. It’s not too shabby.
I listened to this three times in a row. You just get lost in the sumptuous beat. Yeah, that’s right. I said “Sumptuous.”
One thing I could not have foreseen myself doing is making another video for YouTube, and, yet, there I stood, today, delivering advice on using YouTube Analytics. Yesterday, as the reality that I’d be getting back in front of a camera other than my own began to sink in, I reached out to Lindsay C., who directed most of the segments I was in at YouTube Nation, for advice on my on-camera performance. She reminded me to breathe and to take my time, and I was thankful for that. While the advice itself was useful, I think the mere act of receiving the advice from her
I don’t know why, but this kid looks like “two for flinching” personified. He looks like there’s no way he’d ever give you a candy bar without taking a bite out of it first, hence the unwrapped, bitten candy bar on the label. Speaking of the label, what’s up with that flower in front of the glass of milk? I assume that’s some European custom I’m unfamiliar with but would thoroughly enjoy. At least until the kid from the candy bar label came up and slapped the candy bar out of my hand to the ground. “YOU’VE RUINED MY RELAXING CANDY BAR MOMENT, KINDER KID!
Yes, I know I said I was making a “clean start” just a couple days ago and cutting my sugar intake again. But this is a real holiday, and this is how people in my community celebrate it!
I don’t even mind Lil Yachty on this.
